Hazy sunshine on Monday, turning very warm by Tuesday.

Today:

Any mist and fog should soon clear, leaving hazy sunshine for much of the day. However, outbreaks of rain my develop and push northwards across east coastal areas during the afternoon. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Tonight:

A dry and largely clear evening, but cloud will gradually build from the south overnight, becoming widespread and likely bringing a few outbreaks of drizzle by dawn. Dull in places. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Tuesday:

Rather dull with patchy drizzle at first, though brightening quickly with widespread afternoon sunshine. Becoming very warm, with an unusually warm night to follow. Breezy during the evening. Maximum temperature 26 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Breezy with rain on Wednesday, clearing to sunny spells. Further rain on Thursday, mainly east, followed by afternoon showers. Sunny spells and afternoon showers on Friday. Temperatures closer to average.

Initially, some outbreaks of rain may affect the UK, especially the north and west. These changeable conditions will probably give way to higher pressure and a more settled period of weather through the early part of the period. The speed at which high pressure builds, and whether it will be focussed across the north or south, remains finely balanced. This will lead to a drier than average period overall, with lighter winds than average. Some interludes of more unsettled weather and stronger winds are likely at times, but there are mixed signals as to where these are more probable. Temperatures are likely to remain warmer than average.

High pressure and more settled conditions early in the period may give way to a more changeable pattern towards mid-October. This will bring a greater chance of wet and windy conditions at times, but there will still be periods of drier and more settled weather. Temperatures are likely be above average for the period as a whole.
