Further details

Very strong westerly winds associated with Storm Boelo are expected with fairly widespread gusts of 60 to 70 mph and gusts to 80 mph in exposed coastal areas. While strong winds are expected across a wider area with a yellow warning in force, there is higher confidence in impacts and disruption taking place within this amber warning area. The winds will gradually ease from the west during Sunday morning.

This is an update to the amber warning already in force, as Northern Ireland will see the wind easing earlier than other parts of the UK.

Further details

Strong west to southwesterly winds are expected to spread across much of Scotland, the north of Northern Ireland and northern England on Tuesday. Gusts of 50-60 mph are possible quite widely and some coastal or exposed areas could see gusts of 70 mph or more, but at this time there is some uncertainty in where, and how strong, the peak gusts will be. The strongest of the winds will reduce from the southwest later on Tuesday, with the far north of Scotland the last to see winds ease.
