CCRA-IA Technical Report Community Review

Informing the next Climate Change Risk Assessment Independent Assessment (CCRA4-IA) Technical Report.

This Technical Report is part of the package of information being produced for the fourth Climate Change Risk Assessment (CCRA4). It forms part of the independent assessment commissioned by the Climate Change Committee (CCC) and is produced by a consortium of experts led by the Met Office.

The purpose of the Technical Report is to provide an independent assessment of the risks and opportunities that climate change poses to the UK. It has been designed to inform subsequent National Adaptation Programmes and wider policy making. A set of 44 risk descriptors were defined in conjunction with risk owners such that they align better with governance structures in the UK. The sectors covered are the Built Environment, Economy, Health and Wellbeing, Infrastructure and Land, Food and Nature. Each of the Chapters within CCRA4-IA can be found at the bottom of this page.

Community Review Opens

The Community Review is now open and will close on Tuesday 2 December at 23:59:00.

External engagement and co-production have been central to the development of the Technical Report. This has included two Calls for Evidence from the wider community. Whilst the Technical Report has been subject to ongoing Quality Assurance from an internal Science Assurance Group, an Independent Review Group, the CCC project team and the Adaptation Committee, we now invite comment from the wider scientific and policy communities.

The purpose of the review is to ensure the Technical Report is capturing the breadth of the evidence base in a robust and comprehensive manner, in a way that is useful and usable for audiences. We welcome review of the report from both potential users and subject matter experts.

Please note, this is a draft version of the report for comment. The draft text should not be further distributed, cited or used as a basis for decision making at this stage. The final report will be published in Spring 2026.

Following the conclusion of the Community Review the consortium will work with the CCC to update the Technical Report as appropriate.

Contributors who provide valuable feedback may have the opportunity to have their input acknowledged in the report.
