Staying largely dry and cloudy overnight, but an increasing chance of clear intervals developing, perhaps leading to some isolated fog patches. A few drizzly showers may affect southern coastal regions. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Monday:

Low cloud, mist and fog patches slowly lifting, then a somewhat brighter day than on Sunday with occasional sunny intervals interspersed with periods of cloudy weather. Feeling a little milder. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Mainly dry early next week with occasional bright spells, but often cloudy. Some rain or drizzle is possible, this increasingly likely by Wednesday. Staying chilly for most with fog possible.

A transition to a rather more changeable and at times unsettled weather pattern is likely to occur during the first few days of this period. Outbreaks of rain and freshening winds will probably make inroads from the southwest during Thursday ahead of conditions more widely becoming wetter and windier by the weekend. A return to periods of rain followed by showers, often accompanied by strong winds looks likely for the rest of the month, with the potential for weather warnings or even a named storm at some point before the month is out. Temperatures at least should recover in most places, ending up near average or even a little above, though admittedly not feeling like it at times.

The start of February is likely to continue on an unsettled and relatively mild theme, with periods of rain, showers and strong winds, alternating in most parts with short-lived brighter and cooler interludes. Pressure may build across southern areas towards mid-month, which would result in longer drier and more-settled spells here, albeit with an increased chance of overnight fog and frost.
