Rise in carbon dioxide off track for limiting global warming to 1.5°C
The increase of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO₂) is now incompatible with IPCC pathways which remain below 1.5°C, a Met Office study finds.

Grey, gloomy and rather chilly in the east with a blanket of cloud bringing occasional spots of drizzle over high ground. Drier, brighter and milder in the west with a few sunny intervals for Devon and Cornwall. Maximum temperature 7 °C.
Cloud spreads into western parts through this evening bringing a largely settled night. A few clear skies allow patchy fog and frost to form in rural parts. Minimum temperature 2 °C.
Mainly cloudy with any brighter breaks again confined to the southwest. Feeling chilly beneath the cloud with the occasional spot of rain or drizzle in places. Maximum temperature 8 °C.
Settled. A mixture of cloudy skies bringing patchy rain interspersed with brighter intervals. Some chilly nights to come, with frost and fog in places, but daytime temperatures recovering to average.
