Headline:

Turning changeable with showers or longer spells of rain.

Today:

A band of cloud and a few showers will spread eastwards this morning. Turning brighter behind with some good spells of sunshine come the afternoon. Feeling warm with lighter winds than of late. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Tonight:

A largely dry night with clear spells, possibly allowing a few mist patches to develop. Later in the night some showery outbreaks of rain likely to arrive in the west. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Saturday:

A bright start in the east, but rather cloudy with showery outbreaks of rain further west. The showers becoming more widespread into the afternoon, and turning persistent later. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Showers or longer spells of rain likely through Sunday and into Monday, possibly thundery. A few showers still possible Tuesday. Temperatures generally returning closer to average.

A fairly quiet start to the period looks likely with many areas seeing a good deal of dry weather. That said we are unlikely to see a return of the completely dry and warm weather we have see in recent days, with clear or sunny periods and showers more likely. Toward the latter part of the period a trend toward more changeable weather is favoured although there should still be some drier intervals. Overall temperatures likely close to or a little below average at first, especially in the north, then returning close to average or rather warm later.

Low pressure systems are likely to dominate across the UK at the start of this period. This means showers or longer spells of rain are likely at times, heavy in places. There will, however, be some dry and warm interludes, although temperatures are likely to be close to normal overall. Later in the month, more settled and drier conditions may begin to develop, with temperatures perhaps rising slightly above normal.
