Today:

A dry start with bright spells, and it should remain dry throughout the day, with an increasingly sunny afternoon developing. However, it will turn cloudier across Devon and Cornwall by mid-afternoon. Feeling very warm in the sunshine. Maximum temperature 23 °C.

Tonight:

Remaining dry overnight with clear spells for many, variable amounts of cloud will continue to feed in across Devon and Cornwall. Light winds. Minimum temperature 13 °C.

Tuesday:

A bright start, particularly in the east, with a cloudier start in the west. However, this cloud will lift and break, allowing sunny spells to develop here too. Maximum temperature 25 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Remaining largely settled over the coming days with plenty of sunshine. Very warm, with temperatures rising further and becoming hot locally by Wednesday. Cooler and less settled from Thursday.

Mostly dry away from the north and northwest where scattered showers are expected. There is a small chance that some other western parts could see some rain by the end of the weekend. Temperatures ranging from around average in the NW to warm in the southeast, perhaps becoming very warm in the southeast through the weekend. It will probably become more changeable thereafter, with potential for an area of low pressure to move close to or across the UK early in August. This could bring spells of heavy rain and perhaps some strong winds for a time. It may become more settled again toward the end of the first week of August.

Dry and settled conditions will probably dominate much of this period with high pressure patterns tending to affect the UK. This may be interrupted at times by Atlantic frontal systems, especially in the north, or thunderstorms in the south. However, overall rainfall amounts will likely be below normal. Temperatures will probably be above normal and some spells of hot weather and heatwaves are possible, especially in the south.
