Today:

A grey start with some spots of rain towards the northeast, otherwise a bright morning with sunny spells. Some showers developing by the afternoon, especially in the east, with a few heavy and possibly thundery showers developing. Feeling warmer. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Tonight:

Showers fading this evening, leaving a dry and clear night to develop across much of the region. However, showers may continue overnight in western Cornwall. Turning chilly in the countryside. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Saturday:

Rather cloudy at times across southern coasts with some further showery rain towards Cornwall and possibly later into Devon. Largely dry with sunny spells elsewhere, and feeling warm. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Early rain clearing Sunday with a dry but cooler afternoon following. Largely dry but cool on Monday and Tuesday, with some bright spells, but rain possible overnight into Tuesday.

Changeable and at times rather unsettled conditions look to dominate through the middle part of May, with low pressure often close by. This means periods of rain or showers, some of which could be heavy, for many places, though some drier interludes are also expected. For the most part, temperatures are likely to be close to or perhaps a little below normal, with winds often blowing from a northwesterly quadrant. By the end of this period, pressure may increase towards the southwest, which could bring more in the way of dry weather here.

Low pressure systems are likely to still be close by to north or northeast of the UK at the start of this period, with a continuation of changeable and at times windy conditions most likely here. There will however, probably be some dry and warm interludes, these more likely towards the south initially, but these may become rather more widespread through the latter part of this period. Temperatures through the latter part of May and into early June may end up being above average overall.
