Today:

Early fog gradually clearing to leave some brightness in eastern counties this morning. Patchy light rain soon arriving in west Cornwall, with the odd spot developing elsewhere through the afternoon as it generally turns cloudy. Feeling warm in the east. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Tonight:

Patchy light rain will slowly clear towards the southeast, leaving a mostly dry and sometimes clear night to come, though mist and fog patches returning. Chilly, especially in rural spots. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Saturday:

A generally dry day to come with sunny spells which could turn hazy at times with high cloud. Light winds with temperatures a little above average for September. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Turning windier on Sunday with rain edging eastwards, heavy in places. Fine again on Monday with some sunshine before wet and windy weather returns on Tuesday. Temperatures staying above average.

Remaining changeable as Atlantic frontal systems bring spells of rain, showers and occasional strong winds. The wettest and windiest conditions will tend to be most frequent across western areas, with longer drier interludes most favoured in the far east and southeast, where it may be very warm at times. Into October, high pressure to the northeast of the UK may become more influential on the weather, with some longer drier interludes focussed more across the north and northeast of the UK, whilst occasional rain may tend to be more prevalent towards the south and west. Temperatures are expected to be above average for the period as a whole.

Initially, high pressure may be centred to the north or northeast, with longer drier periods more likely across northern UK, whilst low pressure to the southwest brings occasional rain or showers into more southern and western parts. Towards and beyond mid-October, it may turn more widely unsettled with a greater chance of wet and windy conditions at times. Temperatures will likely be above average for the period as a whole.
