Today:

Any overnight fog and low cloud dispersing this morning. Otherwise a dry day with plenty of sunshine although high cloud spilling across this afternoon. Warm, but cooler along the east coast. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Tonight:

This evening will be cloudy with showery rain gradually spreading northeast. Remaining cloudy overnight with further showery rain extending northwards across most parts, perhaps briefly heavy. Minimum temperature 9 °C.

Friday:

A mostly cloudy day with scattered showers, these mainly in the morning before it turns drier in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Cooler and cloudy over the weekend with showers, these most widespread on Saturday. Mainly dry on Monday with just a few light showers.

A fairly quiet start to the period looks likely with many areas seeing a good deal of dry weather. That said we are unlikely to see a return of the completely dry and warm weather we have see in recent days, with clear or sunny periods and showers more likely. Toward the latter part of the period a trend toward more changeable weather is favoured although there should still be some drier intervals. Overall temperatures likely close to or a little below average at first, especially in the north, then returning close to average or rather warm later.

Low pressure systems are likely to dominate across the UK at the start of this period. This means showers or longer spells of rain are likely at times, heavy in places. There will, however, be some dry and warm interludes, although temperatures are likely to be close to normal overall. Later in the month, more settled and drier conditions may begin to develop, with temperatures perhaps rising slightly above normal.
