This Evening and Tonight:

A mostly dry start in the east but outbreaks of rain in the west, heavy at times, soon spread to all counties. This rain will clear east after midnight with a few showers spreading to western parts later. Minimum temperature 2 °C.

Saturday:

The day will stay mostly dry with sunny spells with only the odd shower, mainly in the west and around the North coast. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Cloudy Sunday with rain turning showery later. Bright spells and a few showers on Monday. Showers clearing Tuesday morning to leave the rest of the day dry with sunny spells.

After a settled start across much of England, it will be quickly turning unsettled across Scotland, Wales and then the rest of England through Wednesday and into Thursday, with cloud and rain bearing Atlantic systems heralding a trend back towards more changeable, or even unsettled conditions. There will be some short-lived transient settled periods too, perhaps bringing an increased risk of frost and fog for a day or two. Towards the end of the period, an increasing chance of more settled spells once again, although confidence is very low by this point. Initially starting cold across England and Wales for Wednesday, before temperatures rise across Scotland and then England and Wales as Atlantic weather systems arrive, and will more often be above average than below through much of the period.

There is an increased chance of settled spells at first, bringing more in the way of dry weather, light winds, and increased risk of overnight fog and frosts. This is associated with more frequent periods of high pressure which will probably never be too far away to the north or east. Whilst spells of wind/rain still remain possible they may be less frequent than usual at first, but a steady increase in periods of unsettled weather across southern and/or western areas in particular seems likely as the period progresses. Above average temperatures are slightly more likely overall, but colder spells, especially at first and in the north, could still occur. One or more spells of snow cannot be ruled out, should weather systems arriving from the south into colder air.
