A few showers in the north in the morning, otherwise dry, bright. Showers becoming more widespread in the afternoon, some on the heavy side. Strengthening southwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Tonight:

There will be a mixture of clear spells and a few showers. Overnight some more frequent showers across Argyll. A windy night. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Tuesday:

Bright or sunny intervals and showers, some heavy. Fresh to strong westerly winds. Drier by evening. On the cool side. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Bright on Wednesday with some sunny spells developing. Rain spreading from the west on Thursday. Then brighter again on Friday with some sunshine.

Remaining changeable, with occasional rain or showers arriving from the North Atlantic, most frequent across northern and western parts of the UK, where some strong winds will also be possible at times. However, there will also be some reasonable dry and more settled periods, especially across southern areas. Later in the month, high pressure may become more dominant in the vicinity of the UK, perhaps bringing more widely settled conditions for a time, especially away from the far north. Temperatures for the period as a whole will probably be close to average overall, but there is scope for some rather warm days at times, along with occasional relatively cool nights.

High pressure initially close to the UK, with a continuation of more settled conditions at times, may start to weaken its influence on the weather later in the month and into early October. As a result, it may become more changeable with a greater chance of rain or showers in places, and perhaps some strong winds at times too. Temperatures will likely be a little above average overall, with relatively cool nights possible at first tending to reduce in frequency later in the period.
