Headline:

Unsettled initially this week, but drier and warmer by Friday.

Today:

A rather wet start with a band of rain breaking up into a mix of bright spells and showers. Some of the showers will be heavy, but northern areas tending to turn drier for a time throughout the afternoon. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

Some late spells of sunshine in the east this evening. Otherwise rain will spread across Wales overnight, accompanied by blustery winds. A milder night than of late. Minimum temperature 9 °C.

Tuesday:

Any lingering rain in the east quickly clearing, leaving a blustery day with a mix of sunshine and showers. The showers will be heavy and possibly thundery, before easing later. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Further showers likely on Wednesday, before turning drier, brighter and warmer on Thursday. Mostly sunny and very warm on Friday with perhaps the odd shower developing later in the day.

High pressure is expected to bring a good deal of fair, warm weather to the UK during the Bank Holiday weekend. It may be cloudier with a chance of some showers across Northern Ireland and Scotland, but even here it will be much warmer than the previous week and there will be plenty of dry weather around too. Through the following week, high pressure is expected to broadly remain in place for much of the UK, and fine weather is likely to continue for most of the country. There may be occasions where low pressure to the north may bring some brief spells of rain across northern parts, but in general fair weather will dominate. Temperatures are expected to be above normal, feeling very warm at times with light winds.

Fair weather is more likely to dominate, at least at first. Rain and showers are possible at times, mainly across Northern Ireland and Scotland, but the main emphasis remains for fine and dry weather for most places. As we head towards mid-June, more mixed conditions are likely with spells of rain and showers. Drier weather is expected between any bouts of wetter weather, these drier interludes will tend to last longer across the south and east of England. Temperatures are most likely to be near or slightly above average overall, with some warm or very warm weather possible.
