Rather cloudy with a few spots of drizzle over the hills and mountains. Occasional brighter break but turning cloudier again later with a band of rain pushing southwards across the country from late afternoon. Less warm. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Tonight:

Damp this evening with rain sinking southwards. Turning drier overnight with lengthy clear skies allowing temperatures to fall. Chilly with a touch of frost in places. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Thursday:

A chilly but fine and dry start with sunshine. Sunshine perhaps hazier into the afternoon but remaining fine and dry. Rain arriving late evening. Feeling cooler. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Turning unsettled over the Easter weekend with showers or longer spells of rain. Generally drier and brighter through Sunday. Some strong and gusty winds too.

It is increasingly likely that unsettled conditions will affect the UK over the Easter Holiday weekend, with the potential for strong winds and heavy rain at times. The wettest and windiest weather is more likely towards the west and north of the country. Beyond Easter, a broad northwest-southeast split is most likely, though the extent of high pressure into southern areas is unclear. That said, northern and western parts are more likely to remain rather unsettled overall, with further spells of wind and rain, and areas further southeast should see the best of the drier, clearer interludes. Temperatures probably fairly close to average overall, but occasional warmer spells are possible in the south and east.

The broad northwest-southeast split is likely to continue to begin this period. However, it is probable that more blocked weather patterns will become increasingly dominant through the middle of the month. This is likely to mean more settled and drier conditions overall. There may however, still be some more unsettled interludes at times, especially in the south and southwest. Later in April, the probability of more changeable and unsettled weather increases, which is likely to be more widespread than the middle of the month. Temperatures will probably be around or a little above normal, but some warmer days are likely where light winds and sunshine combine.
