Tonight:

A dry night to come with plenty of clear spells and light winds. Temperatures will drop quickly to low single figures in rural and sheltered spots. Grass frost likely. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Thursday:

Hazy sunny spells through much of Thursday and staying dry for all. Light winds with temperatures around, or just above average for the time of year. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Rain moves east on Friday. Brighter with showers later, but staying around average for temperatures. Unsettled conditions continue through the weekend with rain advancing eastwards.

Remaining changeable as Atlantic frontal systems bring spells of rain, showers and occasional strong winds. The wettest and windiest conditions will tend to be most frequent across western areas, with longer drier interludes most favoured in the far east and southeast, where it may be very warm at times. Into October, and high pressure to the northeast of the UK may become more influential on the weather, with some longer drier interludes focussed more across the north and northeast of the UK, whilst occasional rain may tend to be more prevalent towards the south and west. Temperatures are expected to be above average for the period as a whole.

Perhaps a spell of mainly dry and settled weather at the start of this period. Thereafter, conditions will probably turn more changeable further into October. Wet and windy conditions become more likely, with a risk of deep areas of low pressure moving across the UK. Temperatures will probably be above normal overall.
