A day of sunny spells and showers across the region. Showers may be heavy and merge into longer spells of rain at times. Pleasant in any sunshine, but otherwise feeling rather cool for June in a blustery breeze. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

Showers easing to leave a cool evening with late sunny spells. Temperatures rebounding slightly as cloud builds overnight, with rain arriving from the west during the early hours of Thursday. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Thursday:

A wet morning as rain spreads across the region, locally heavy at times. Rain turning lighter and patchier in the afternoon, but remaining widely cloudy. Feeling muggy despite being windy. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Largely cloudy and breezy on Friday with patchy rain. Drier and warmer over the weekend, with winds also easing. Sunny spells emerging, but low cloud and fog lingering along coasts.

Fine and dry across much of the UK for the first couple of days of this period with long spells of sunshine for most. Temperatures are likely to be above normal and parts of the south could be very warm for a time. A more unsettled spell is likely through the middle of next week with outbreaks of rain the north and northwest, some of which could spread to parts of the south and southeast at times. After this, high pressure will probably become more dominant with conditions turning widely dry and settled, and probably very warm for many.

High pressure is expected to lie close to the UK at the start of this period, bringing settled and mainly dry conditions. Temperatures will likely be above normal, with potential for hot conditions to develop, especially in the south. Into July, weakening of the high pressure may bring an increasing chance of more unsettled weather and thunderstorms, especially in the south.
