Heavy rain and hill fog pushes northeastwards with Storm Austen. Gusty over high ground overnight, then gales reach the southwest of the country around dawn. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Friday:

Rain pushes northeastwards and strong winds become more widespread through the day. Gales continue in coastal areas. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Strong winds and heavy rain Saturday before a brief settled interlude brings sunny spells and isolated light showers on Sunday. Further wind and rain arrives overnight into Monday.

Continuing unsettled into the early part of next week with an Atlantic frontal system expected to bring another spell of wet and windy weather. Through the course of next week, conditions likely turning less unsettled with rain and stronger winds becoming more focused on northwestern areas. Likely turning drier and calmer across the south and east bringing a greater chance of chilly nights and morning fog patches. A similar pattern then likely continuing during early November though with a chance that settled conditions may develop more widely for a time. Temperatures varying around average.

Slowly evolving weather patterns are more likely than normal during early in November which increase the chance of spells of settled and drier weather. Most areas are still likely to see some rain or showers at times but the focus of these more likely across the northwest of the UK. Into mid-November, the chances of a more unsettled weather regime increases again with more frequent spells of rain for many areas and likely windy at times. Some cold nights possible during more settled spells, otherwise temperatures likely to vary around average.
