    Today:

    Icy stretches at first as a band of rain, sleet and snow moves across the region in the morning. Turning sunnier during the afternoon, though scattered wintry showers continuing in the west. Breezy and feeling cold. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

    Tonight:

    Wintry showers continuing across western counties overnight. Remaining mostly dry further east with largely clear skies. A widespread, locally harsh, frost developing under the starry scenes. Minimum temperature -6 °C.

    Saturday:

    Continuing wintry showers in the west bring the chance of icy patches on untreated surfaces. Dry in the east with plenty of sunshine. Still cold, particularly with the ongoing breeze. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

    Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

    Very similar on Sunday and Monday: cold but largely dry with winter sunshine by day and frost by night. Perhaps cloudier on Tuesday with some rain and hill snow possible.
