Dry and bright Friday. Rain arriving Saturday.

Today:

Isolated showers first thing on Friday morning, but these will soon fade as a ridge of high pressure builds in. This leaves brighter spells in the afternoon, especially in the west. Light winds and temperatures near average. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Tonight:

Dry with clear spells initially. However, it will cloud over from the north after midnight. Strengthening southwesterly winds, with a risk coastal gales across Gwynedd and Anglesey later. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Saturday:

A band of cloud and rain already across north Wales will gradually sink south across the country during the day. Some heavier bursts possible. Rather windy, with temperatures near normal. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Dry with variable amounts of cloud around on Sunday, before another area of rain arrives from the west for Monday. Turning rather showers on Tuesday, with a risk of thunder.

Remaining changeable, with occasional rain or showers arriving from the North Atlantic, most frequent across northern and western parts of the UK, where some strong winds will also be possible at times. However, there will also be some reasonable dry and more settled periods, especially across southern areas. Later in the month, high pressure may become more dominant in the vicinity of the UK, perhaps bringing more widely settled conditions for a time, especially away from the far north. Temperatures for the period as a whole will probably be close to average overall, but there is scope for some rather warm days at times, along with occasional relatively cool nights.

High pressure initially close to the UK, with a continuation of more settled conditions at times, may start to weaken its influence on the weather later in the month and into early October. As a result, it may become more changeable with a greater chance of rain or showers in places, and perhaps some strong winds at times too. Temperatures will likely be a little above average overall, with relatively cool nights possible at first tending to reduce in frequency later in the period.
