Staying cloudy for many this evening and overnight, with a few light showers in the south. Occasional clear intervals are possible, these most likely in the north and perhaps turning locally chilly here. Otherwise staying relatively mild. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Saturday:

Mainly dry with bright spells developing and perhaps some more prolonged periods of hazy sunshine for a time. Thicker cloud later and a few showery outbreaks in the west. Breezy. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

A damp start on Sunday as rain continues to clear eastwards, with some brighter spells possible later as winds slowly ease. Sunshine and blustery showers on Monday and Tuesday.

An unsettled weather pattern is likely to dominate across the UK at the start of this period. Outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, and strong winds are expected to spread from the southwest as a deep area of low pressure crosses the UK later next week. This system will likely move away to leave the following weekend showery and cooler. Into the following week, conditions are expected to be changeable with showers or longer spells of rain across many parts of the UK. The wettest weather will probably be in parts of the north or northeast, with the southwest driest overall. Temperatures are expected to be close to or slightly below normal for the time of year.

A showery northwesterly regime should give way to a generally changeable and at times unsettled period as we move into early November, as low pressure systems over the Atlantic track towards the UK. Given this setup, the wettest conditions are most likely in the west, and strong winds could feature at times too. There are just hints that a drier interlude may unfurl across more southern areas towards mid-month, which could increase the incidence of overnight fog.
