Today:

Early bright spells in the east will give way to increasing cloud and some patchy rain from the west on Thursday morning. This will lead into a breezier afternoon with some more persistent rain edging into western parts later on. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Tonight:

A band of increasingly light and patchy rain will move eastwards across the region during the evening followed by clear spells and a few showers overnight. Milder than last night. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Friday:

Isolated showers first thing Friday morning, but dissipating under a ridge of high pressure. This leaves brighter spells in the afternoon, especially in the west. Temperatures will be near average. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Some wet and windy weather returns on Saturday. Sunday looks rather cloudy with patchy rain, though with lighter winds. Staying mixed into next week with bright spells and showers.

Remaining changeable, with occasional rain or showers arriving from the North Atlantic, most frequent across northern and western parts of the UK, where some strong winds will also be possible at times. However, there will also be some reasonable dry and more settled periods, especially across southern areas. Later in the month, high pressure may become more dominant in the vicinity of the UK, perhaps bringing more widely settled conditions for a time, especially away from the far north. Temperatures for the period as a whole will probably be close to average overall, but there is scope for some rather warm days at times, along with occasional relatively cool nights.

High pressure initially close to the UK, with a continuation of more settled conditions at times, may start to weaken its influence on the weather later in the month and into early October. As a result, it may become more changeable with a greater chance of rain or showers in places, and perhaps some strong winds at times too. Temperatures will likely be a little above average overall, with relatively cool nights possible at first tending to reduce in frequency later in the period.
