It will be a murky to start in the east with some mist or fog and patchy drizzle in places. Turning wet again from the west with a heavy band of rain pushing eastwards. Breezy, especially along the coast. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Tonight:

A band of showery rain is followed by further locally heavy showers overnight with some drier, clearer spells later. Remaining breezy and rather mild. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Wednesday:

Showers with some dry and bright spells at first, becoming mostly dry by lunchtime. However, further locally heavy rain likely towards evening, especially in the south. Breezy. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Turning cooler and drier as we head into the weekend. Further rain or showers through Thursday, less so on Friday. Saturday will be mostly dry, bright and feeling rather chilly.

After a briefly quieter spell, associated with some colder conditions, Atlantic frontal zones look to make a return near the start of this period. The track of these depressions may be a little further north than over the preceding weeks, but will continue to bring broadly unsettled weather to many areas, with further spells of rain and perhaps strong winds at times. With the westerly influence, it should become somewhat milder for many, though there remains the chance that colder conditions could affect northern and northeastern parts from time to time.

Broadly changeable conditions are expected across the UK during this period. Low pressure systems will probably dominate, meaning showers or longer spells of rain, heavy at times, for much of the UK, and still the chance of some hill snow in the north. Some drier interludes are likely, though it must be said, flooding impacts remain possible given recent very wet weather. Windy conditions look probable from time to time. Temperatures probably close to or a little above average overall, with a reduced chance, compared to earlier thinking, of a late season prolonged cold spell.
