Perhaps some early evening brightness to the east of the hills. Otherwise, rather cloudy and blustery overnight with occasional spots of rain or drizzle in the breeze, mainly over the Moors in the west. Staying mild and turning increasingly humid. Minimum temperature 14 °C.

Saturday:

Generally cloudy with rain and drizzle possible, perhaps quite persistent at times in Devon and Cornwall. Winds gradually easing but remaining breezy. Murky in places and feeling fairly muggy. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Winds easing as pressure rises to bring a settled period. Lengthy sunny periods but locally chilly nights at first with patchy fog. Turning warmer with temperatures rising above average.

A changeable period is expected, with Atlantic weather systems bringing spells of rain, showers and occasional strong winds. The wettest and windiest conditions are most likely across northern and western areas, although stronger winds may at times extend more widely. Between these unsettled spells, periods of drier and more settled weather are likely, especially in the south and east, where they may last for a few days. Accompanying these may be some overnight fog and frost. Temperatures are expected to be slightly above average overall.

Changeable and occasionally unsettled weather is likely to become more frequent through October, with spells of rain and stronger winds increasingly likely to move in from the Atlantic. Between these periods, some drier and brighter interludes are also expected. As is often the case for October, deeper areas of low pressure may occasionally bring spells of very strong winds. Temperatures are expected to remain slightly above average overall, although brief cooler interludes are possible.
