Today:

Starting with patchy cloud and bright spells, and perhaps a few light showers. Then becoming dry with bright or sunny spells, before cloud increases. Outbreaks of rain will spread east this afternoon, perhaps not reaching Kent by late afternoon. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

Rain this evening, clearing east by the early hours. Large amounts of cloud and showers or longer spells of rain will follow, perhaps locally heavy. Milder than previous nights. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Sunday:

Starting with showers or longer spells of rain, possibly heavy at times, most likely across eastern areas. Drier and brighter conditions then spread follow, along with scattered showers. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Monday sunshine and scattered sometimes heavy showers. Rain and strong winds arrive overnight, clears Tuesday with breezy conditions and showers following. Wednesday lighter winds, mainly dry with sunny spells, warmer.

Changeable conditions are expected at first, with low pressure often close by to the north of the UK, bringing rain and showers. However, high pressure from the south is expected to quickly start to build near to the UK towards the Bank Holiday weekend, bringing some fine and dry conditions, with temperatures rising accordingly for some. Thereafter, high pressure is expected to broadly remain the dominant influence across much of the UK, with spells of fine weather. Low pressure will be positioned to the north, and will at times allow some rain or showers to cross the country. Overall across the period, temperatures are expected to be above normal with winds often light for many.

Whilst further rain and showers are possible at times, there is also likely to be spells of fine and dry weather. Patterns which bring more settled weather are more likely to dominate through the turn of the month across southern areas with more unsettled spells of weather likely to be focused further north. Into June, more mixed conditions are likely with spells of rain and showers, but also some drier weather at times. Temperatures are most likely to be near or slightly above average overall, with some warm weather possible at times.
