Fine and warm today, then changeable from Thursday.

Today:

A fine and dry day with spells of sunshine for much of the region. Patchy cloud likely further west across Cornwall, especially during the afternoon. Feeling warm with light winds. Maximum temperature 24 °C.

Tonight:

Cloud across the far west will drift eastwards at times throughout the night, with a little drizzle in places. Turning murky particularly near the coast and over hills. Minimum temperature 9 °C.

Thursday:

A bright start in the east, but a band of rain will move eastwards during the morning. Turning brighter behind with the odd shower but feeling cooler than today. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Remaining unsettled on Friday and Saturday with further rain at times, mainly on Saturday. Turning more showery again on Sunday. Temperatures nearer to average.

It will likely remain rather changeable during the first part of this period with showers or occasional longer spells of rain affecting many areas. Whether this takes the form of successive weather systems pushing in from the Atlantic or a more slowly evolving weather pattern remains rather unclear. There may also be some drier and brighter interludes and when winds are light, it should feel quite warm, despite temperatures most likely being close to normal for most. Later in the month more blocked weather patterns become more likely, with high pressure in the vicinity of the UK. This increases the probability of more settled weather, especially in the north but there may still be periods of rain or showers, especially in the south.

Blocked patterns with high pressure near to the UK will probably be dominant during this period with a good deal of dry weather across the UK as whole. Some unsettled interludes could develop at times, especially in the south, where rainfall amounts could be above average. Temperatures will probably be near to or slightly above normal, although some cold nights are still possible.
