Headline:

Largely fine on Sunday with lighter winds and some sunshine.

This Evening and Tonight:

A cloudy and often damp end to the day with coastal mist and hill fog in places. Periods of rain and drizzle clearing southwards with skies gradually clearing overnight. Winds easing considerably and remaining rather warm in southern regions. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Sunday:

A fine day with a mixture of cloud and sunny spells, with some prolonged periods of sunshine developing in places. Much lighter winds than on Saturday and feeling pleasantly warm. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Staying generally dry early next week. Sunny at times but some cloud around too. Chilly nights at first with patchy fog in the mornings but feeling warm in the afternoons.

A changeable period is expected, with Atlantic weather systems bringing spells of rain, showers and occasional strong winds. The wettest and windiest conditions are most likely across northern and western areas, although stronger winds may at times extend more widely. Between these unsettled spells, periods of drier and more settled weather are likely, especially in the south and east, where they may last for a few days. Accompanying these may be some overnight fog and frost. Temperatures are expected to be slightly above average overall.

Changeable and occasionally unsettled weather is likely to become more frequent through October, with spells of rain and stronger winds increasingly likely to move in from the Atlantic. Between these periods, some drier and brighter interludes are also expected. As is often the case for October, deeper areas of low pressure may occasionally bring spells of very strong winds. Temperatures are expected to remain slightly above average overall, although brief cooler interludes are possible.
