A wet start today, with the rain heavy in places and accompanied by gusty winds. The rain will clear to the east by lunchtime leading to a much drier and brighter afternoon with sunny spells. Feeling rather cool for June. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Tonight:

Largely dry this evening across the east but scattered showers further west will tend to spread a little further east overnight. A rather chilly night for June. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Tuesday:

A day of sunshine and scattered showers across the region. The showers possibly turning heavy in places with the risk of thunder. Remaining on the rather cool side. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Further sunshine and showers throughout Wednesday before a spell of wet and windy weather moves in for Thursday. Potentially cloudy and damp to start Friday but drier and brighter later.

The start of this period will see a transition to a generally more settled weather pattern for much of the UK, as high pressure exerts more an influence. This will be most noticeable across southern and eastern parts, whereas areas further northwest could often be cloudier with some rain at times. With the build of pressure will come an increase in temperatures, with the potential for very warm or hot conditions to become established by mid-month, especially across parts of England and Wales. High pressure is favoured to remain close by to the UK towards the end of this period, bringing widely settled conditions and often above average temperatures.
