A bright start with plenty of sunshine. Cloud will build in the east, although warm, sunny spells will continue. Staying largely dry with just a small chance of a few showers in the east during the afternoon. Maximum temperature 25 °C.

Tonight:

A warm end to the day with some late evening sunshine. Staying dry overnight with clear skies at first, but cloudier later. A cool night for many. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Sunday:

Cloudy skies are likely at first during the morning, but quickly turning sunny in the east. Staying cloudy in parts of Devon and Cornwall with a few showers. Maximum temperature 26 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Staying largely dry with sunny spells and variable amounts of cloud. A few spots of rain are possible at times where the cloud thickens. Very warm in the sunshine.

For much of the UK, dry at first with sunny spells. Northern and northwestern areas will be cloudier with occasional patchy rain or drizzle. Towards the weekend and perhaps into the start of next week, perhaps a more unsettled period with rain at times, especially across northern parts of the UK. This rain may very well reach southern areas too, but could be light and patchy here. Confidence becomes lower as we head into next week, but there are signs that high pressure will return, which means dry conditions would resume, especially in the south. Winds will be mostly light or moderate, occasionally fresh around northern coasts. Temperatures are expected to be near or above normal, warmest in the south, perhaps becoming very warm again by the start of August.

Higher pressure is generally more likely than lower pressure through August. This means settled and dry weather will likely prevail, especially across the south. There still could be rain at times across northern parts, but should become less frequent where dry and warm conditions extend northwards. Although most areas may see dry weather for the much of the period, occasional summertime thunderstorms are possible on some days given the right ingredients. Winds are expected to be generally light or moderate, and occasionally fresh around coastal areas. Temperatures will very likely remain above normal, with potential for further hot spells, particularly in the south.
