The day will start largely dry, albeit cloudy. Showery outbreaks of rain will develop as the morning unfolds, with further rain at times during the afternoon, some of which could be heavy. Mild, though a slight breeze. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Tonight:

Rain will clear away to the southeast this evening, leaving a dry night with clear periods. A widespread frost developing, with the chance of some fog and icy patches forming. Minimum temperature 0 °C.

Wednesday:

Early frost and any fog clearing to leave a dry and bright morning. Turning breezy during the afternoon and gradually clouding over from the west. Temperatures a little lower. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Patchy rain on Wednesday night giving way to more widespread wet and windy weather during the day on Thursday. This clearing to sunshine and showers on Friday and Saturday.

Slow evolving weather patterns in the vicinity of the UK are most favoured through this period, with low pressure often to the west or southwest and high pressure near or over Scandinavia. Areas of rain or showers will attempt to push into some western and southwestern parts of the UK in particular, but possibly making limited eastwards progress. Longer, drier interludes are most likely in the east and northeast, though potentially rather cloudy at times. A gradual trend towards colder conditions is most likely through this period, especially in the south and east. As such, whilst wintry precipitation will be more reserved for hills initially, this may become more likely to lower levels later in the period.

Changeable conditions are most likely to continue through this period. This means an ongoing likelihood of further spells of rain and windy conditions at times, these perhaps most prevalent in the west, but also there should also be some interludes of drier weather too, these perhaps more likely in the east. Temperatures probably remaining close to average overall, but there is the possibility of colder conditions and associated winter hazards at times, due to higher pressure extending from the north or east. Late in the period, there is currently a hint that a north-south or northwest-southeast split develops, with wetter weather becoming more confined towards the north or northwest and drier conditions developing further south or southeast.
