Cold and mostly clear this evening, strong winds continuing but easing with time. Cloud developing overnight, probably becoming widespread by morning, however, patchy frost is possible, particularly in the south. Minimum temperature -1 °C.

Another dry day with plenty of cloud for many parts, although some areas could see further prolonged sunshine, especially Kent and Sussex. Winds not as strong compared to Christmas Day. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Bright on Saturday, otherwise cloudy and mainly dry through the outlook period. Breezy at first, although less so than over Christmas. Light rain or drizzle possible Saturday evening. Rather cold.

High pressure is likely to dominate across the UK through to the end of the year, centred to the west or northwest over the North Atlantic. Temperatures will probably be near or slightly below average for this period overall.
