Tonight:

Variable cloud and clear spells overnight, although the odd coastal shower is still possible. Winds easing with a few mist or fog patches likely in places. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Tuesday:

A mix of sunny spells and just the odd shower, with most places likely to be predominantly dry. Feeling fresher with winds noticeably lighter. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Band of rain and stronger winds moves east on Wednesday. More settled Thursday and Friday with sunny spells and lighter winds. Colder nights with frost and a few fog patches.

Dry and fine with some warm sunshine for many as we finish the week and head into meteorological spring. Into next week, northwestern areas will likely turn cloudier with spells of rain, as Atlantic weather systems push in from the west. These weather fronts will mainly affect the northwest of the UK, but wet and breezy weather could spread further south and east at times. Generally the best of the weather is expected in the southeast. Here, the weather will be mainly dry and bright with light winds and warm sunshine, but occasional rain and showers are still a possibility. Temperatures are likely to be above average overall, perhaps a little cooler further north where it will be cloudier and breezier.

The weather is expected to be changeable across the UK with Atlantic, with frontal systems pushing across the UK from the west at times. These will bring periods of wet and windy weather, with western and northwestern areas likely to see the heaviest rainfall and strongest winds. Drier and brighter weather is expected between frontal systems, and likely feeling warm in the sunshine where winds fall light. Temperatures are likely to be above average overall, although some short-lived cooler spells are possible at times.
