Today:

Some cloud and patchy rain affecting eastern parts at first. Otherwise, largely dry with some bright spells into the early afternoon. Cloud and outbreaks of rain then develop from the south through the later afternoon and evening. Still very mild. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Tonight:

Cloudy with outbreaks of rain, some locally heavy, these perhaps becoming more focussed toward the north. A strengthening easterly breeze developing later in the night. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Friday:

A wet day with further heavy and persistent rain, especially toward the north. Perhaps some heavy showers reaching coastal areas later. Strong winds likely. Temperatures still mild. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Saturday, cloudy and weakening outbreaks of rain edging south. Brisk winds, feeling chillier. Gradually becoming drier and brighter Sunday. Monday, mostly dry and bright, Breezy and feeling chilly.

All parts of the UK are likely to start off on a rather cold but bright note, with some sunshine. However, some showers are likely to pepper northern and eastern coasts, these wintry over high ground and possibly to low levels in the far northeast. A brisk northerly wind will accentuate the cold feel. Overnight frost will be widespread, especially in the north. Towards the middle of next week, an area of rain and stronger winds may move southeast across much of the UK, bringing a brief less cold spell, before a resumption of the cold northerly airflow with further wintry showers. Although very uncertain, high pressure may then settle things down by next weekend before it possibly turns milder, wetter and windier from the west late in the period.

Whilst the expected weather patterns during late November and into December are inevitably very uncertain, there is a signal for largely unsettled or at least changeable conditions across the UK, with the flow tending to come mainly from the Atlantic. This means spells of wind and rain are likely for most if not all parts, with a risk of some snow, mainly in the north over high ground. Some drier, brighter interludes are also likely, with an associated risk of frost and fog. Temperatures are likely to be near or a little above normal overall.
