Dry for most with bright or sunny spells and light winds. A few showers and stronger winds lingering across Kent, but this clearing during the morning with sunny spells developing later. Cold, with a frost and icy patches at first. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Tonight:

A dry night with clear spells at first, allowing a widespread sharp frost to develop. Cloud thickening from the west, with temperatures rising as the night goes on. Becoming breezy. Minimum temperature -4 °C.

Saturday:

Cloudy, with rain spreading eastwards, heavy at times. Perhaps drier in the west later in the day, but further rain arriving overnight. Windy, especially on coasts. Milder than of late. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Unsettled with rain or showers and strong winds at times. Milder, but still with a risk of overnight ground frost. Perhaps turning brighter on Tuesday with winds and showers easing.

Areas of cloud and showers affecting many eastern coastal counties at first, whilst showers in the far north could turn wintry for a time. Elsewhere, trending drier, a little cooler, and more settled as high pressure builds across from the Atlantic; these conditions are likely to steadily spread to all areas mid-next week. However, this settled interlude doesn't look like it will last too long, as cloud and rain bearing Atlantic systems arrive heralding a trend back towards more changeable, or even unsettled conditions. Towards the end of the period, an increasing chance of more settled spells once again, although confidence is very low by this point. Initially starting cold, temperatures should rise as the Atlantic weather systems arrive, and will probably more often be above average than below.

There is an increased chance of settled spells at first, bringing more in the way of dry weather, light winds, and increased risk of overnight fog and frosts. This is associated with more frequent high pressure which will probably never be too far away to the north or east. Whilst spells of wind/rain still remain possible they may be less frequent than usual at first, but a steady increase in periods of unsettled weather across southern and/or western areas in particular seems likely as the period progresses. Above average temperatures are slightly more likely overall, but colder spells, especially at first and in the north, could still occur. One or more spells of snow cannot be ruled out, should weather systems arriving from the south, push north into colder air.
