After a cooler, fresher start than of late, Friday will be a mostly dry day with plenty of sunny spells. Winds will be generally light and it will feel pleasantly warm in the sunshine. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Tonight:

A dry night will follow with clear spells and generally light winds for all. Feeling rather cool and fresh once again. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Saturday:

Winds reaming generally light with plenty of sunny spells. An isolated light shower is possible, but most staying dry. Feeling pleasant in the sunshine. Maximum temperature 23 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Mostly dry with sunny spells on Sunday. Some rain or thundery showers likely on Monday and Tuesday, but mainly dry. Turning a little warmer too.

A generally rather changeable period looks likely, with many places likely to see some much needed rain or showers at times but also some more sunshine. Initially, some heavy rain looks likely across the northeast, with some showers elsewhere. After a drier, brighter few days, further unsettled conditions may develop for a while, these perhaps more likely towards more southern parts of the UK. Thereafter, further spells of dry, warm, sunny weather and cooler, wetter and breezier weather look likely as we head towards mid-August. Temperatures will likely be a little above average overall, and there is the potential for some very warm or hot spells, especially in the south, although perhaps not the heat we have seen in recent weeks.

Dry and settled conditions look likely to dominate much of this period with high pressure patterns tending to affect the UK. This may be interrupted at times by Atlantic frontal systems, especially in the north, or thunderstorms in the south. However, overall, rainfall amounts will likely be below normal. Temperatures will probably be above normal and some spells of hot weather and heatwaves are possible, especially in the south.
