Today:

A wet morning to come with a spell of heavy rain moving eastwards across the region. The rain will gradually clear after lunchtime with the afternoon turning drier and brighter, allowing some sunny spells to develop. Feeling rather cool. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Tonight:

Largely dry this evening with some clear spells. Cloud will tend to increase overnight with some showers developing towards the early hours. A rather chilly night for June. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Tuesday:

A day of sunshine and scattered showers across the region. The showers turning heavy in places, but some lengthier drier spells also developing. Remaining on the rather cool side. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Further sunshine and showers throughout Wednesday before a spell of wet and windy weather moves in for Thursday. A return to showers on Friday, but perhaps turning drier later.

The start of this period will see a transition to a generally more settled weather pattern for much of the UK, as high pressure exerts more an influence. This will be most noticeable across southern and eastern parts, whereas areas further northwest could often be cloudier with some rain at times. With the build of pressure will come an increase in temperatures, with the potential for very warm or hot conditions to become established by mid-month, especially across parts of England and Wales. High pressure is favoured to remain close by to the UK towards the end of this period, bringing widely settled conditions and often above average temperatures.

Whilst settled conditions look most likely, with a lot of dry weather in the offing, temperatures are more uncertain, though the potential does exist for further hot spells, especially in the south. Into July, it is possible that pressure may lower from the south increasing the chance of thunderstorms here.
