Today:

A largely dry and bright day, with the best of the sunshine across the south. Northern areas will see more in the way of cloud at times, with perhaps the odd spot of rain possible in the far north later. Maximum temperature 29 °C.

Tonight:

Staying fine and dry across the south this evening, but rather cloudy in the north with the odd spot of rain. Cloud spreading further south overnight, with clearer skies following. Minimum temperature 15 °C.

Monday:

A grey start in the south but this will gradually clear, leaving a fine and sunny day across the region. Feeling a little cooler but still warm. Maximum temperature 25 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Dry over the next few days with plenty of sunshine. Turning hotter through the week, and increasingly humid from mid-week with light winds.

Something of a north to south split to start the period. Some rain or showers are likely in the north whilst it will be predominantly dry, sunny and hot in the south. The heat in the south will likely ease into next weekend but probably remain a little above average. Further into August high pressure will likely become more widely dominant leading to settled conditions for most. There are signs that low pressure systems or thundery interludes will interrupt this at times, but rainfall amounts will probably be variable, with some areas continuing to see relatively little. Temperatures are likely to remain above average, with a chance of a return of the hot conditions seen earlier in the period.

The broad theme of high pressure remaining in place at least close to the UK seems most probable, but with occasional more unsettled or changeable interludes. These interludes will either be the result of Atlantic frontal systems moving east or thundery plumes possibly drifting north from the continent. The broadly settled conditions mean that rainfall amounts overall are more likely to be below normal than above. Temperatures will probably be above average and some spells of hot weather and heatwaves are possible, especially in the south.
