Showers continuing in places this evening and overnight, with the odd clear and drier spell. Milder than previous night with most places staying above freezing. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Friday:

Another mixed day with showers, these heavy at times and most frequent in the south during the afternoon. Drier in Cumbria later with sunny spells. Feeling slightly warmer. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Dry in the west on Saturday but rain over the hills in the east. Drier and brighter on Sunday but breezier. Cloudy again on Monday with rain. Turning cooler.

UK long range weather forecast

Changeable and at times rather unsettled conditions look to dominate through the middle part of May, with low pressure often close by. This means periods of rain or showers, some of which could be heavy, for many places, though some drier interludes are also expected. For the most part, temperatures are likely to be close to or perhaps a little below normal, with winds often blowing from a northwesterly quadrant. By the end of this period, pressure may increase towards the southwest, which could bring more in the way of dry weather here.

Low pressure systems are likely to still be close by to north or northeast of the UK at the start of this period, with a continuation of changeable and at times windy conditions most likely here. There will however, probably be some dry and warm interludes, these more likely towards the south initially, but these may become rather more widespread through the latter part of this period. Temperatures through the latter part of May and into early June may end up being above average overall.
