Today:

Dry and largely bright or sunny with mainly light winds. Becoming widely very warm again, but remaining somewhat cooler near the coast where sea breezes develop. Maximum temperature 26 °C.

Tonight:

A fine, sunny evening, then mostly clear overnight with winds falling light. Perhaps some isolated low cloud, mist or fog patches forming by dawn, though localised if they do occur. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Thursday:

Any mist, fog or low cloud clearing to leave another dry, sunny and generally very warm day. Breeziest at the coast and temperatures lower than inland, but still warm here. Maximum temperature 28 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Mainly dry and sunny, although a chance of showers on Saturday and Sunday. Overall very warm or hot with temperatures likely peaking on Saturday. Occasionally breezy this weekend.

Initially hot across eastern Britain in particular, with many areas dry although a few showers will be possible in places, perhaps thundery. Temperatures are likely to lower somewhat into next week, but still remaining very warm across parts of the east and southeast. There will also be an increasing chance of some showers or thunderstorms in southern and western areas, and perhaps some longer spells of rain in the far north. Later in the week and into the following weekend, higher pressure may become more influential, especially across central and southern areas where longer spells of dry and warm weather are most likely, whilst it remains cooler and generally more changeable farther to the northwest.

Rather changeable conditions are anticipated through the first half of July, with the wettest and windiest conditions most likely towards the northwest, with a risk of some heavy rain at times, especially over hills. Southern and eastern areas are most favoured for longer drier and more settled spells, although even here some occasional rain or showers will be possible, perhaps thundery. Temperatures are expected to be above average for most areas, especially towards the southeast where there will be an ongoing chance of some very warm or hot conditions at times.
