Rise in carbon dioxide off track for limiting global warming to 1.5°C
The increase of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO₂) is now incompatible with IPCC pathways which remain below 1.5°C, a Met Office study finds.

Rather cold and cloudy for many, with the east brightest.
Fine and frosty in parts of the east at first, with local freezing fog gradually clearing to some sunny spells. Otherwise on the cloudy side but mainly dry. Light winds. Maximum temperature 4 °C.
Remaining rather cloudy in places, however developing clear periods will allow a sharp frost in many areas and perhaps local freezing fog. Minimum temperature -5 °C.
Probably rather more cloud around than previous days, with the best of limited brighter intervals again in the east. Temperatures rising slightly, with the odd spot of rain possible. Maximum temperature 8 °C.
Probably remaining rather cold and often cloudy, with overnight frosts and local freezing fog the principal impactful weather. Perhaps very gradually becoming more unsettled by the end of the period.
