Tonight:

A clear night for much of the region. Given light winds, temperatures will fall, with a chilly end to the night, especially in rural areas. Some cloud affecting Derbyshire later. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Thursday:

Largely dry and settled on Thursday across the East Midlands, with sunny spells developing after a chilly start. Light winds and good visibility are expected, making for pleasant autumn weather. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Mainly dry and settled on Friday but cloudier. Dry and brighter over the weekend with some sunny or clear spells. Temperatures near or rather above normal.

Remaining changeable as Atlantic frontal systems bring spells of rain, showers and occasional strong winds. The wettest and windiest conditions will tend to be most frequent across western areas, with longer drier interludes most favoured in the far east and southeast, where it may be very warm at times. Into October, and high pressure to the northeast of the UK may become more influential on the weather, with some longer drier interludes focussed more across the north and northeast of the UK, whilst occasional rain may tend to be more prevalent towards the south and west. Temperatures are expected to be above average for the period as a whole.

Perhaps a spell of mainly dry and settled weather at the start of this period. Thereafter, conditions will probably turn more changeable further into October. Wet and windy conditions become more likely, with a risk of deep areas of low pressure moving across the UK. Temperatures will probably be above normal overall.
