Perhaps brightest in the southwest first thing, in an otherwise rather cold and cloudy day, with some banding of rain. This rain will be punctuated by more showery spells, spreading from the east on the wind. Temperatures near average. Maximum temperature 7 °C.
Remaining cloudy, with further spells of rain punctuated by some more showery bursts. Initially a few flurries on hills, but tending to become more wintry overnight. Local frost by dawn. Minimum temperature 0 °C.
Another mostly cloudy and increasingly cold day, with the continuing onshore wind bringing spells of rain and sleet. Some snow is possible, this mainly in the Peak District. Maximum temperature 5 °C.
A cold and mostly cloudy period, with some further rain or showers, these wintry on modest hills. Probably becoming drier as the easterly wind weakens through midweek, although remaining cloudy.
