Today:

A few isolated light showers, mainly early in the day and focused in the west and far north, but many staying dry, with the best of the afternoon highs in the east from Belfast southwards. West to southwest breezes. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Tonight:

Turning unsettled with an area of occasionally heavy rain reaching from the west by late evening, which persists overnight. Westerly winds backing southerly overnight and occasionally freshening around the coasts. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Saturday:

Rather cloudy with some rain, most persistent early in the day, turning progressively more patchy through the day, with some limited brighter spells in the east. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Sunday mainly dry with light winds and sunny spells best in east. Monday wet and occasionally windy with the east in best of shelter. Tuesday showery.

Remaining changeable, with occasional rain or showers arriving from the North Atlantic, most frequent across northern and western parts of the UK, where some strong winds will also be possible at times. However, there will also be some reasonable dry and more settled periods, especially across southern areas. Later in the month, high pressure may become more dominant in the vicinity of the UK, perhaps bringing more widely settled conditions for a time, especially away from the far north. Temperatures for the period as a whole will probably be close to average overall, but there is scope for some rather warm days at times, along with occasional relatively cool nights.

High pressure initially close to the UK, with a continuation of more settled conditions at times, may start to weaken its influence on the weather later in the month and into early October. As a result, it may become more changeable with a greater chance of rain or showers in places, and perhaps some strong winds at times too. Temperatures will likely be a little above average overall, with relatively cool nights possible at first tending to reduce in frequency later in the period.
