A mix of bright spells and a few showers is expected during the morning. It will turn drier for a time into the afternoon, though remaining cloudy. Light rain likely to return to the region by mid-afternoon. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Tonight:

Further outbreaks of rain are likely into the evening and overnight, perhaps with some heavier bursts over the hills of Cumbria. Winds becoming gusty later in the night. Minimum temperature 14 °C.

Tuesday:

Overcast for much of the day on Tuesday with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, the heaviest of which will be across the north of the region. Temperatures near average. Maximum temperature 23 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

The unsettled theme conditions into the rest of the week. There will be some warm sunshine at times. However, showers are also likely, especially in the north. Temperatures near average.

Mostly dry away from the north and northwest where scattered showers are expected. There is a small chance that some other western parts could see some rain by the end of the weekend. Temperatures ranging from around average in the NW to warm in the southeast, perhaps becoming very warm in the southeast through the weekend. It will probably become more changeable thereafter, with potential for an area of low pressure to move close to or across the UK early in August. This could bring spells of heavy rain and perhaps some strong winds for a time. It may become more settled again toward the end of the first week of August.

Dry and settled conditions will probably dominate much of this period with high pressure patterns tending to affect the UK. This may be interrupted at times by Atlantic frontal systems, especially in the north, or thunderstorms in the south. However, overall rainfall amounts will likely be below normal. Temperatures will probably be above normal and some spells of hot weather and heatwaves are possible, especially in the south.
