UK May and spring temperature record provisionally broken for second day in a row

Gradually cooling down, and turning more unsettled this weekend.

This Evening and Tonight:

The evening will start largely sunny. However, a few heavy and possibly thundery showers could break out towards dusk, and areas of cloud are likely to bring further showers across the region from the south overnight. Very mild, though breezy. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Thursday:

Early showers will die out from the south in the morning, leaving a dry day with a southerly breeze and plenty of very warm or hot sunshine. Maximum temperature 29 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Warm sunshine and a few showers on Friday. Turning cooler and more unsettled over the weekend, with some showery and breezy weather arriving from the west.

UK long range weather forecast

A changeable period, as a sequence of Atlantic weather systems move in from the west to bring a mixture of drier spells and some showers or longer spells of rain at times. The best of the drier conditions are more likely towards the south and east, with the rain generally more frequent in parts of the west and northwest, although there will be drier interludes here also. Temperatures will be near-normal overall, with the warmest spots most likely across eastern areas. It will also be breezy at times, most especially across northwestern areas.

Probably changeable or unsettled at first with Atlantic frontal systems bringing showers or longer spells of rain at times. From mid-month, high pressure may begin to become more dominant with conditions becoming drier and more settled, although some showery interludes are still possible.
