Headline:

A mixed few days with bright spells and showers.

Today:

A mixed picture with occasional bright or sunny spells through the day and further showers. Most of these will be pretty light with one of two heavier downpours in the afternoon. Feeling slightly warmer than Wednesday with light winds. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Tonight:

Showers continuing on places overnight, with the odd clear and dry spell. Milder than previous night with most places staying above freezing. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Friday:

Another mixed day with showers but areas around the coast should remain dry. Showers heavier than of late with some brighter spells in between. Slighter warmer, especially in the south. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

A wet start to the weekend with some more showers but turning drier into Sunday. Staying mostly dry into the new week but temperatures will start to drop.

Changeable and at times rather unsettled conditions look to dominate through the middle part of May, with low pressure often close by. This means periods of rain or showers, some of which could be heavy, for many places, though some drier interludes are also expected. For the most part, temperatures are likely to be close to or perhaps a little below normal, though depending on the position of low pressure relative to the UK, there is the chance of brief warmer mroe humid interludes extending north from the near continent. With this would be the chance of some thunderstorms, these most likely affecting parts of England and Wales.

Low pressure systems are likely to still be close by to the UK at the start of this period. This means showers or longer spells of rain are likely at times, these heavy in places, with the wettest conditions probably towards the northwest by this stage. There will, however, probably be some dry and warm interludes, these more likely towards the south, although temperatures are likely to be close to normal overall. Later in the period, more settled and drier conditions may develop, as high pressure establishes itself over or to the west of the UK, with temperatures perhaps rising a little above normal, especially in the west. Should this happen, eastern parts may be on the cool side with a predominant flow off the North Sea.
