Rise in carbon dioxide off track for limiting global warming to 1.5°C
The increase of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO₂) is now incompatible with IPCC pathways which remain below 1.5°C, a Met Office study finds.

Settled but cold overnight with a frost and patchy fog returning beneath clearer skies. Mainly cloudy in the south, with hill fog across the higher ground. Minimum temperature -1 °C.
Cold with a widespread morning frost. Some brighter breaks at times, but remaining chilly. Turning cloudier through the afternoon with some patchy light rain and drizzle in places. Maximum temperature 4 °C.
Patchy rain and drizzle arrive from the west next week, interspersed with drier, brighter intervals too. Some cold and frosty nights to come, but temperatures recovering to average by day.
