A bright start with some good sunny spells around. Cloud will bubble up through the morning with showers developing for a time, but cloud increasing across Galloway in the late afternoon. Southeasterly winds freshening, especially near western coasts. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

Rather cloudy this evening across Dumfries and Galloway with, especially for Galloway, outbreaks of rain. Otherwise a dry evening and night with some late sunny then clear spells. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Wednesday:

A bright morning with sunny spells but scattered showers are expected to develop for the afternoon. Feeling quite warm in the sunshine, especially in west, with mainly light easterly winds. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Sunny spells and a few showers Thursday. Cloud and occasionally heavy rain spreading east Friday morning with freshening southeasterly winds. Rain clears to showers early Saturday, with winds turning southwesterly.

Fairly changeable at first, with cloud and rain moving slowly east across the UK, probably easing and breaking into showers as it does so, with more settled conditions developing later in the weekend away from the far northwest. Into the following week, it will most probably be high pressure dominated, with large amounts of fine weather, and perhaps the odd heavy shower, especially in the south. Any more unsettled interludes liable to be brief and mainly affecting western or northwestern UK. However, there is a small chance of an alternative scenario coming off, with cloudier and wetter weather more extensive, especially across the south and west of the UK. Winds are most likely to be light, with temperatures probably at or slightly above normal.

The period begins with the two alternate scenarios continuing, most likely widely dry and settled, but a lower chance of more unsettled and wet conditions, especially in the south and west. Towards the middle of the month signals become weak and mixed, with more balanced chances of dry / settled and wetter / unsettled conditions. But compared to the start of this period, this represents an increased chance of more unsettled / wet conditions. There is however a strong signal for temperatures to be at or above average.
