Little change in the weather pattern on Thursday. Remaining rather cloudy but dry with light winds. Some glimmers of brightness at times with temperatures near the seasonal norm. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Tonight:

Another mostly cloudy and dull end to the day with cloudy skies persisting through the night. Occasional clear spells developing allowing temperatures to fall and fog patches to form. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Friday:

Another grey day, with some breaks in the cloud to give a few brighter intervals. Winds staying light with temperatures around average. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Bright or sunny intervals on Saturday and turning breezier. A change on Sunday as rain and brisker winds arrive from the west followed by sunshine and heavy showers on Monday.

A rather unsettled pattern is likely through much of this period, as low pressure systems originating over the North Atlantic trundle east or northeastwards across the UK. These will bring showers or longer spells of rain, perhaps accompanied by some strong winds at times, but also interspersed with some drier and brighter interludes, albeit these generally of shorter duration than the recent settled spell. Later in the period, there may be a transition to a slightly cooler and more showery northwesterly regime, as high pressure builds over the Atlantic to the west, and low pressure becomes centred to the east of the UK. Temperatures are likely to be near or slightly above average overall, although may trend slightly below normal later

Into November, an unsettled pattern is anticipated, as low pressure systems over the Atlantic track across the UK. These may be shifted farther south than normal, bringing showers or longer spells of rain fairly widely, perhaps also accompanied by some strong winds at times. Temperatures will probably be close to or slightly above average overall.
