Cloudy to start, with scattered showers slipping away to the southeast. Then turning brighter with occasional sunny spells, though the odd spot of rain may still be felt in the west. Light winds, but still feeling rather chilly. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Tonight:

Dry for many this evening, with clear spells allowing for a rural frost and patchy fog to form overnight. Always cloudier in the west with light rain for some. Minimum temperature 0 °C.

Thursday:

Mainly cloudy and soon turning widely wet as heavy, perhaps wintry, showers spread eastwards through the day. Windy too, but turning drier and brighter later in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Storm Éowyn brings wet and very windy conditions on Friday with coastal gales likely. Briefly more settled over the weekend, though still breezy at times with further scattered showers.

This looks like being and unsettled period across much of the country, but especially for northern and western parts. During Monday, another deep area of low pressure looks likely to move across the UK from the Atlantic, bringing wet and windy conditions to most if not all parts. Further spells of wet and windy weather look like moving east from the Atlantic to affect the UK during the rest of the period too, with drier, brighter spells in between. There is the potential for further weather warnings or even a named storm at some point. Temperatures overall are likely to end up being around or slightly above average, though wind and rain will make it feel chilly, and brief cool spells with some overnight frost are likely between weather systems.

Generally mild at first, with periods of rain, showers and strong winds alternating with short-lived brighter and cooler interludes. With time, these may become increasingly confined to northern parts, with pressure possibly building across southern areas. This would result in longer drier and more-settled spells here, albeit with an increased chance of overnight fog and frost with temperatures falling correspondingly.
