Headline:

Rain soon spreading from south, occasionally turning heavy.

Today:

A cloudy day with an area of rain soon reaching Ayrshire, which extends northwards to reach all from noon, while occasionally turning heavy. Southeast winds freshening across the coasts and Isles. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Tonight:

Wet and occasionally windy for the evening. Rain increasingly focused across Argyll overnight, as mainly dry conditions develop from the Central Belt southwards. Minimum temperature 9 °C.

Wednesday:

Argyll overcast with rain turning heavy at times. Best of brightness early and in south, but rain increasingly likely in the Central Belt for the afternoon. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Further rain for much of Thursday, perhaps heavy at first. Clearing to a cold, showery northeasterly flow overnight. Friday and Saturday cold with isolated showers, but chance rain far south.

Many central and northern parts of the UK will likely be in a colder but drier regime than of late with overnight frosts, and a few showers near windward coasts in particular which may be wintry on high ground. However, it could remain cloudier, milder and wetter initially across some southern and southwestern areas, with some uncertainty as to how quickly this clears away to the south. It is most likely that the bulk of the UK will experience drier and colder conditions into the first part of next week. Later in the period there is increasing uncertainty, but a trend towards more changeable conditions is possible, with some rain or showers in places, and perhaps some hill snow at times in the north. Temperatures overall may return to near-average.

Whilst the expected weather patterns during late November are very uncertain, there is a greater chance of spells of high pressure during this period, bringing more in the way of dry weather compared to the current weather pattern, which also increases the chances of overnight fog and frost. There will probably still be some spells of rain, showers, and stronger winds though, especially in the west. Hill snow is also a possibility, mainly in the north. Overall, near or slightly above average temperatures are most likely, though some colder spells are also possible, especially should any prolonged settled spells develop.
